For more than a century, Calumet Brass Foundry has specialized in making durable and precise sand castings for clients nationwide – including 24-hour turnaround for copper-based and aluminum emergency needs. Calumet’s staff of sand casting experts is comprised of:

• Three floor molders averaging 25+ years of experience each
• A furnace tender with 25+ years of experience
• Two qualified expert back-up furnace tenders
• A grinding room with more than 10 years of combined experience

Calumet’s sand casting services range from precise projects of just a few ounces to capacity casting of 2,200 lbs of copper-based metals and 800 lbs of aluminum, including custom casting patterns. Calumet’s most-commonly poured metals are:

• Red Brass
• Leaded Tin Bronze, Tin Bronze, Manganese Bronze, Silicon Bronze, and Aluminum Bronze
• Aluminum 319 and 356
• Aluminum-Magnesium 535

Clients receive maximum flexibility from more than 10,000 available patterns and the ability to create unique patterns based on customer specifications. To ensure quality, certified ingot or custom-mixed pure metals are used, along with an on-site calibrated spectrometer. Other sand casting-related services include rough/finish machining, cast-in/plugged/grooved graphiting, pressure testing, and chemical/physical certification.

A Note On Lead
In 1995, Calumet Brass Foundry implemented many controls and operating procedures designed to minimize problems associated with lead handling. Lead remains an extremely beneficial material, including lubricating qualities crucial to areas where friction and wearability remain concerns (such as bearing and guide applications). Calumet Brass Foundry offers castings with up to 25% lead content.
